How to replace Nutribullet Bearings
If your nutribullet has become noisy during operation, the most likely problem is that the seal located between the bearings and the blade is leaking. This will flush out the lubricant within the bearings and they will become noisier as they begin to rust. Changing just the bearings without changing the seal will immediately damage the new bearings, for this reason we have a seal and bearing kit. Here are the steps to follow to successfully remove the old bearings and seal and fit the new ones.
The blade is a reverse thread, therefore you need to unscrew it opposite to normal screws. This means that you need to hold the blade at the top and the rubber gear at the bottom, turn the blade Clockwise to unscrew. This can be simple if the Nutribullet is still fairly new, if it is older then it may need some force so be careful not to cut yourself, I used vice grips to hold the rubber gear and a cloth over the blades. See the pictures below to help demonstrate.
Once it has been unscrewed you can easily remove the blade and rubber gear. Take note that there is a yellow washer, a white washer and a white rubber spacer as shown below.
Now remove the 3 screws as shown below
Once removed you will be able to lift off the metal piece and also remove the black washer, here is what you should have now:
Now flip the base over and you will be able to see the original seal and 2 bearings as seen below
The bearings are a tight fit so you will need a small flat blade screwdriver or something similar to pop the bearings out from the back. We found that this did not need alot of force with our newer unit but it would be safe to assume that over time they may be harder to remove. Place the screwdriver so that it is touching the outer edge of the first bearing, tap the back of the handle to attempt to pop the bearings out.
Now place the new seal inside the base, facing the correct way as shown below
The new bearings will need to be gently tapped into place with a small hammer, I recommend a small block of wood or similar to prevent damaging the bearings. Be careful not to hit them in too hard, this will squash the seal and prevent it from sealing correctly, it will also make it very difficult to fit the blade back in place.
As shown above, this was after a couple of gentle taps, another couple and it was seated firmly in place without squashing the seal. You can now re fit the large black rubber washer, metal plate and screws. Then fit the blade and washers, tighten as best as possible. The reverse thread will actually tighten itself when the Nutri-Bullet is being used.
